Protein
Life runs on small parts that know their job.
We’re inspired by the infinite possibilities of life formed by amino acids. A few simple building blocks, combined in countless ways, make everything that lives. We named Amino after them.
In natureThe same few building blocks, in endless orders, make every living thing.
In AminoPell, Customer Support. It owns the support queue.
Small molecules. Specific jobs.
An amino acid is a small molecule built around a single carbon atom. A side chain gives each kind its own character: some are drawn to water, some avoid it, some carry a charge. Life uses the same twenty standard kinds in bacteria, in trees and in people.
On its own an amino acid does very little. Joined in a chain hundreds long, amino acids become proteins, and proteins do most of the work in a cell.
- Carries oxygen from your lungs to the rest of the body.

Simple blocks
Life uses twenty kinds of amino acid. Each one is small and simple. - leads to
- 02
Fold
The finished chain folds up. Its order decides the shape it settles into. - leads to
- 03
Every kind of life
From those shapes comes everything alive, from bacteria to trees to people.
That is what inspires Amino. Simple parts, combined well, can grow into almost anything.
We didn’t invent the pattern. We borrowed it.
Amino employees are designed around the same ideas a cell uses to stay alive and get its work done.
| In a cell | In Amino | |
|---|---|---|
| Building blocks | Twenty kinds of amino acid combine into thousands of different proteins. | A vetted set of skills combines into each role on your team. |
| Shape sets the job | A protein’s fold fixes what it can bind to and what it does. | A role charter fixes what an employee owns, may do alone and must never do. |
| Signals, not commands | Proteins act when the molecule they recognize arrives. | An employee acts when something changes in its queue. Nobody has to prompt it. |
| A boundary | A membrane keeps the cell’s work inside and lets in only what it needs. | Each employee works on its own desk, with logins scoped to its role. |
| A checked record | DNA is copied with proofreading, so errors can be caught and repaired. | Every task leaves a receipt that can be checked against your systems. |
In nature, intelligence isn’t one big thing. It comes from many small parts, each doing a piece of the work.
We think intelligence at work looks the same. Not one assistant that tries to do everything for everyone, but specialists that each own a job, follow rules a person can read and leave a record of what they did.
The intelligence is in how they fit together, with each other and with your people.
- Specific beats general. An employee that owns one queue does it better than an assistant that dabbles in all of them.
- Boundaries make autonomy possible. It can act alone because it knows exactly where its job ends.
- Every action leaves a record. If work can’t be checked, it can’t be trusted with anything that matters.
- People decide what matters.Amino takes the routine work. Judgment, taste and care stay with your team.
A small team, with room for one more.
Amino was started in London by Alvis Tang. The team is small and remote-first, and each person owns a part of the product end to end.
